How To SEO Optimize Blogger Blog Post URL
If you ask me one of the platforms where things work well with SEO, it is Blogger. I don't know much about WordPress but today's post is going to give you a full guide on how to make blogger blog post URL SEO friendly.

Before I continue, I must say a very big thank you to all my blog readers who has been with me and advised me. Also, big thumbs up to garanntor and Paul Devine for the domain name and being the brain behind the new name.

Back to making BlogSpot blogs SEO friendly. On each post related to SEO on this blog, I have always specified that keywords are very important and I know if you have been taking it seriously, your blog must be doing great already.

How Post URL Affects SEO.

The URL of a post is the second most power ranking factor of a blog post. If you have a post related to blogging and you change the URL to something related to social media,

The chance of ranking with that post is very low. Because the structure and words in your keywords matter a lot.

Taking another short break, please I have currently rebranded my blog name from ObhiabaBlog.com.ng to BloggingPrince.com and I know many of my followers still visit the old blog.

Please kindly help me out, by sharing this blog post to social media so my readers can easily find me and also google will quickly index the new site - thanks.

Back to topic, well if you have not noticed this, you can simply run a search for a specific and see which posts rank better. Compare the title and URL you would notice same keywords appear.

Is Blogger Default Link SEO Friendly?

You must be wondering if the URL you have been using is SEO optimized - to some extent yes depending on the instance. I always advised people not to use the default blogger URL,

because it has a lot of SEO limitations and this will kill the ranking of every post on your blog. I have seen bloggers who don't edit their BlogSpot post URL but still, they rank perfectly well. Why?

Your URL is not the only reason you will rank no 1. It is just a contribution to the numerous ways of SEO improving your blog. Just because you have a better URL doesn't mean you will rank better than old domains.

Should My Optimized Post URL by Short or Long?

On a post "understanding keywords and how to use them" I did mention that long tail keywords are better for small blogs than short tail keywords. I won't worry about that now, you can go read the post.
short or long url

Keeping the URL of your blog post short will give power to some posts, and this happens only when you have built a lot of backlinks, domain power, and other SEO requirements.

But for a small blog keeping it long (kind of average) is better. Make sure to add the important keywords in the post title to the post URL.

Words Not To Use In Post URL

Another advantage of editing your post URL is the ability to remove unwanted and unranking words. I said above, that you should make sure to add only the important keywords.

Words which are commonly used and also must be part of a statement such as: "to, as, in," should be removed from post links because they have no SEO significance.

But you should leave words like: "and, if" because they are comparative statements and this helps google to understand your blog better whenever it crawlers visits your blog.

Your Post Title Should Be Same With Post Link

Your post title is SEO power and same is your post link. When your blog post title is not related to your blog post URL then your post will find it difficult to rank.

But when the two have the same keywords, google can then easily crawl your site and rank it where ever it deserves.

If you have been making this mistake, you need to start correcting it as it is killing the search position of your blog.

Just a few minutes, since I moved from my old name to this new one so as to fulfill the request of my blog readers. Using this opportunity, I want to request of you to simply share this post so google start indexing all my posts - it's vital!

What Should Be In The New URL?

Keywords - That is what should be in the new URL. Now I know you will just run to your blog and start packing keywords inside your post URL,

Well, things don't work that way, because if you keep doing do, Google might flag you as spam!. Let us see how to use keywords in blog post URL.
